Do Not Let Your Present Sin Stop You from Experiencing Your Eternal Reward with God

Do Not Let Your Present Sin Stop You from Experiencing Your Eternal Reward with God

What Jesus Said About Sin in This Present World

Jesus spoke plainly about sin and its impact on humanity. He warned against allowing sin to enslave the soul and separate individuals from God.

John 8:34 (NKJV) – "Jesus answered them, 'Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.'"

Sin is not simply an action but a bondage. Jesus emphasized that sin has a controlling power over those who remain in it.

Matthew 5:29-30 (NKJV) – "If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell."

Jesus used strong language to show that the fight against sin should be taken seriously, calling for radical separation from whatever leads one away from God.

What Jesus Came to Do: Removing the Sins of Those Who Call Upon Him

Christ's purpose on earth was to redeem people from the bondage of sin and provide a path to eternal life.

Matthew 9:13 (NKJV) – "But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance."

Jesus did not come for those who think they are already holy but for those who recognize their need for forgiveness.

1 John 1:9 (NKJV) – "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

God promises absolute forgiveness to all who genuinely repent and turn to Him.

The Crowns That Will Be Received in Heaven

Scripture speaks of eternal rewards for those who remain faithful to God despite trials and struggles.

2 Timothy 4:8 (NKJV) – "Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing."

This crown is given to those who long for and live in expectation of Christ’s return.

James 1:12 (NKJV) – "Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him."

This crown is granted to those who withstand trials and remain faithful under pressure.

The Mansion Prepared for the Just and Saved

Jesus reassured His followers that He was preparing a place for them in heaven.

John 14:2-3 (NKJV) – "In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you."

Heaven is not an abstract idea but a real place, designed by God for those who belong to Him.

A Description of Heaven According to Revelation

Revelation paints a glorious picture of heaven, revealing it as a place of eternal peace, joy, and the presence of God.

Revelation 21:4 (NKJV) – "And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."

Heaven is free from all earthly suffering, a place of perfect restoration.

Revelation 21:21 (NKJV) – "The twelve gates were twelve pearls: each individual gate was of one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass."

Heaven is indescribably beautiful, crafted with divine perfection.

Will You Be God’s Guest?

Zechariah 3:7 (NKJV) – "Thus says the Lord of hosts: 'If you will walk in My ways, and if you will keep My command, then you shall also judge My house, and likewise have charge of My courts; I will give you places to walk among these who stand here.'"

God calls people to obedience and promises a place among His heavenly host.

 Conclusion

Do not allow your present sin or temporary struggles to rob you of your eternal reward. Sin may feel pleasurable for a moment, but it is fleeting, leading only to separation from God. Heaven is prepared for those who seek salvation, surrender their hearts, and commit to righteousness.

There is no greater loss than missing the eternal joy of heaven because of the fleeting desires of this world. This is not a mere religious thought—it is the truth of God’s word. The Lord calls sinners to repentance, offering grace, redemption, and eternal life.

Will you answer His call? Will you step away from what is temporary and grasp what is eternal? Heaven awaits, and God has already prepared a place for you. Today is the time to choose life, righteousness, and everlasting joy with your Creator.

A QUICK STUDY ON TEMPTATION

Audio on the study below

A QUICK STUDY ON TEMPTATION

James 1:13-15, drawing insights from Dr. Scofield, Dr. J. Vernon McGee, and Matthew Henry.

The Text. James 1:13-15

13 When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; 14 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.

1.God's Nature and Temptation: According to Dr. Scofield, God is inherently good and cannot be tempted by evil. This underscores the belief that God is free from any moral weakness or susceptibility to sin, which sets Him apart from humanity.

2. Human Responsibility: Dr. J. Vernon McGee emphasizes that temptation does not originate from God. Instead, individuals should recognize their own role in succumbing to temptation. This reinforces the idea that humans are accountable for their actions and choices.

3. The Source of Temptation: Matthew Henry notes that temptation arises from within us, specifically from our own desires. He highlights that it is our internal cravings and inclinations that lead to temptation, rather than external forces or divine influence.

4. Desire and Enticement: James explains that each person is "dragged away" by their own evil desires. This metaphor indicates a struggle where desires can overpower reason and self-control, leading individuals to actions they might otherwise avoid.

5.Conception of Sin: Dr. Scofield points out that once desire is entertained, it can lead to sin. The process of temptation is likened to conception; the desire must be nurtured before it results in sin, emphasizing the importance of guarding one's thoughts and desires.

6. The Birth of Sin: Matthew Henry elaborates that sin, once conceived, grows and develops. This progression showcases how unchecked desires can evolve into sinful actions, illustrating the gradual nature of moral decline.

7. Sin's Consequences: According to James, when sin is "full-grown," it leads to death. This is not only a spiritual death but also potentially physical and relational consequences, highlighting the severe repercussions of allowing sin to thrive.

8.Spiritual Death: Dr. J. Vernon McGee interprets this "death" as the separation from God that occurs when one lives in sin. It serves as a warning about the spiritual dangers of yielding to temptation and the importance of maintaining a close relationship with God.

9. The Cycle of Temptation: Matthew Henry suggests that temptation leads to a cycle of sin and death. Understanding this cycle can help individuals recognize the need for vigilance and self-control in their spiritual journeys.

10. Prayer and Resistance: To combat temptation, believers are encouraged to seek God’s help through prayer and to cultivate a strong spiritual life. Dr. Scofield advises that relying on God's strength and wisdom is essential in resisting the pull of evil desires.

Conclusion: Living by the Truth of James 1:13-15

Understanding temptation is pivotal to spiritual growth.

The wisdom in James 1:13-15, supported by the insights of Dr. Scofield, Dr. J. Vernon McGee, and Matthew Henry, reveals that God is holy and cannot tempt anyone—temptation arises from within, from our own desires. This truth removes excuses and calls believers to personal responsibility.

Sin is not an instant act; it is a process. It starts with unchecked desire, which eventually leads to enticement, conception, and the birth of sin. Left unchallenged, sin grows into a force that leads to destruction and separation from God. This passage is not merely a warning—it is a roadmap for victory.

Victory over temptation is possible, but it requires intentionality. Recognizing the cycle is the first step. The next is spiritual discipline—through prayer, resisting temptation, and seeking God’s wisdom. Believers must guard their hearts, renew their minds with scripture, and rely on God’s power rather than their own strength.

Ultimately, the goal is transformation. A student of this passage should not only understand it but live by it, applying its lessons daily. Let this study be a call to action—to acknowledge temptation, take responsibility, and lean on God to overcome it. Doing so leads to a life of holiness, wisdom, and enduring faith.

- Emphasize the necessity of divine guidance in effective prayer and intercession.

 I. The Importance of Divine Oversight

 A. The Role of God as the Ultimate Watcher

- Unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.

- Psalm 127:1 (NKJV): "Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain."

- Highlight that without God’s oversight and guidance, human efforts are futile.

 B. The Danger of Vain Watchfulness

- Discuss the phenomenon of prayer gatherings that lack substance and power.

- Warning against the form of godliness without the true power of God.

II. The Call to Be a Watchman

 A. God’s Calling of Watchmen

- Emphasize that true watchmen are called by God.

- Ezekiel 3:17-19 (NKJV): "Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore hear a word from My mouth, and give them warning from Me."

- Watchmen must hear God’s word and communicate it faithfully.

 B. The Role of the Intercessor

- Clarify the distinction between intercessors and mere praying warriors; intercessors require a deeper relationship with God and others.

- The pride often found among those who proclaim to be intercessors.

 III. The Nature of Warning

 A. The Duty to Warn the Wicked

- The responsibility of watchmen to warn others about sin and its consequences.

- Ezekiel 3:18 (NKJV): "When I say to the wicked, 'You shall surely die,' and you give him no warning..."

- The importance of being a light in darkness rather than merely confronting sin.

 B. The Light of the Watchman

- Every watchman is a light bearer, called to illuminate dark places.

- Matthew 5:14 (NKJV): "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden."

- Encourage the audience to show their light through righteous living.

 IV. The Burden of Intercession

 A. The Reality of Suffering

- Address the misconception that Christianity is free from suffering.

- True intercession often involves identifying with the struggles and pain of others.

- Philippians 1:29 (NKJV): "For to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake."

- Challenge the belief that faith is always about comfort and prosperity.

 B. The Call to Persevere

- The importance of enduring hardship for the sake of the Gospel.

- Romans 8:17 (NKJV): "And if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together."

- Encourage a commitment to true discipleship, which includes suffering.

 V. The Responsibility of the Watchman

 A. The Burden of Truth

- The call to preach the whole counsel of God, including hard truths.

- Warning against the sensational gospel that neglects the need for repentance and truth.

- 2 Timothy 4:3-4 (NKJV): "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth."

 B. The Call to Return

- The necessity for the church to return to its first love and focus on the kingdom of God.

- Encourage a movement toward genuine repentance and relationship with God.

 Conclusion

- Recap the vital roles of watchers and intercessors in the church.

- Challenge the congregation to embrace their responsibilities as watchmen, to seek God's guidance, and to be faithful in warning and interceding for their communities.

- Encourage commitment to a faith that is rooted in truth, humility, and genuine relationship with God.

Part #4 The Call to Suffering and Reigning

Part #4  The Call to Suffering and Reigning

 Introduction

As we delve into this segment of our study, it is crucial to understand that the condition to reign is suffering. The scriptures remind us that if we endure suffering, we will also reign with Christ. This paradox invites us to reflect on our spiritual journey amidst the challenges we face in our lives and ministries.

 The Cost of Reigning

 The Reality of Suffering

The message of suffering is often overshadowed by the allure of prosperity and comfort preached in many churches today. In 2 Timothy 2:12 (NKJV), we read, "If we endure, we shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us." This scripture underscores the necessity of suffering as an integral part of our faith journey.

 The Sensational Gospel

Today, many churches, particularly in America and England, focus on a sensational gospel that captivates the audience with promises of material wealth and success, leading souls astray. This approach often neglects the truth of the Gospel, which calls us to a deeper relationship with Christ, one that may involve trials and tribulations.

The Role of Intercessors

 The Call to Return

The role of intercessors has never been more critical. We are called to return to the foundational truths of the Gospel. Jeremiah 6:17 (NKJV) states, "Also, I set watchmen over you, saying, ‘Listen to the sound of the trumpet!’" This verse highlights the importance of discerning the distinct sounds that come from the trumpet—a metaphor for the messages from God.

 Distinct Sounds of the Intercessor

Intercessors have a unique calling to pay attention to God's distinct sounds. The various sounds signify different seasons and feasts in God’s plan, and it is essential for intercessors to be attuned to these divine signals. We must not confuse the sounds of revival with the expectations shaped by previous generations. God is raising a new sound for this age—one that may not resemble the past revivals we have come to expect.

 The Need for Discernment

 Recognizing the New Sound

As we await a new revival, it is vital to recognize that God may not manifest this revival through familiar voices or platforms. The revival may come from unexpected sources, perhaps from those who do not have the recognition or status we often associate with divine authority.

 The Watchmen’s Responsibility

The call for watchmen is clear: rise and discern the signs of the times. We must be vigilant and attentive, as Isaiah 56:10 (NKJV) warns, "His watchmen are blind; they are all ignorant; they are all dumb dogs; they cannot bark." This scripture serves as a caution against complacency and ignorance in our spiritual watch.

 The Call to Action

 A Clarion Call

The trumpet is sounding, signaling a clarion call to alignment and action. We must rise to our posts and fulfill our responsibilities as watchmen. As we engage in prayer, we must ask the Lord to give us eyes to see and ears to hear the movements of His Spirit in our nation.

 The Prayer of the Watchmen

As we conclude this segment, let us offer a collective prayer: "Lord, give us the eyes to see the move of God in our nation. Help us discern the sound you are releasing into the earth. May we stand firm in truth and proclaim your word boldly."

 Conclusion

The journey of reigning with Christ is intertwined with the reality of suffering. It is a path that requires discernment, vigilance, and an unwavering commitment to the truth of the Gospel. As we prepare for the next session, may we reflect on our roles as watchmen and intercessors, ready to respond to the distinct sound of God’s call in our lives.

Pt#2 The Nature of Intercession and Stewardship

Pt#2 The Nature of Intercession and Stewardship

 Introduction

- Recap the importance of intercession and the roles of watchers and gatekeepers.

- Emphasize that true intercession requires humility and a willingness to come down to the level of those we are praying for.

 I. The Example of Jesus as the Ultimate Intercessor

 A. Jesus’ Approach to Lazarus

- Jesus demonstrated humility by coming down to the level of death to call Lazarus out.

John 11:43 (NKJV): "Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, 'Lazarus, come forth!'"

  - Jesus did not call Lazarus from a position of superiority but as a man, identifying with our human condition.

 B. The Necessity of Identification

- Intercession requires an understanding and identification with those we pray for; it cannot be done from a distance.

- Every intercessor must be willing to embrace the struggles and pain of others.

II. The Role of the Gatekeeper

 A. Definition and Function

- A gatekeeper is an intercessor who speaks out and guards the spiritual gates of the community.

- It is vital to know one's role, whether as a watchman or gatekeeper.

 B. Scriptural Basis

- Isaiah 62:6 (NKJV): "I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they shall never hold their peace day or night."

  - This emphasizes the vigilance required of gatekeepers in spiritual matters.

III. The Importance of Watching and Stewarding

 A. The First Job Description

- The first calling of man was to watch and steward the creation.

Genesis 2:15 (NKJV): "Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it."

  - This highlights the responsibility given to humanity to care for God's creation.

 B. Understanding the Garden

- The garden represents the kingdom of God—an enclosure where stewardship occurs.

- The role of stewardship is not just about physical care but also about spiritual oversight.

IV. The Call to Intercede with Authority

A. Command and Responsibility

- God commanded Adam to protect the garden, establishing a clear role for intercessors.

- Genesis 2:16-17 (NKJV): "And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, 'Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.'"

  - Adam’s role was to protect the garden and uphold God's commands.

 B. The Consequences of Negligence

- Failure to intercede and fulfill one’s role can lead to dire consequences.

- The church must engage in proper intercession to avoid spiritual decay and death.

 V. The Community of Intercessors

 A. Recognizing Diverse Gifts

- Every member of the body has a role; not everyone is called to be a pastor or counselor.

- It is essential to recognize the unique gifts and callings within the community.

 B. Encouragement to Seek Professional Help

- Pastors are not always equipped to solve every problem; the body of Christ should support one another.

- Seek expertise in areas like marriage counseling or financial advice when needed, acknowledging the gifts of others.

 VI. Conclusion

- Recap the importance of humility in intercession and the need to identify with those we serve.

- Encourage the congregation to embrace their roles as watchers, gatekeepers, and intercessors, understanding the weight and responsibility of their calling.

Pt#1The Call of the Watchers and Gatekeepers

Pt#1 The Call of the Watchers and Gatekeepers

 Introduction

- Begin with the message from the Lord: “I haven’t called you a prophet of your nation. I have called you a prophet of the nations.”

- Emphasize the urgency of releasing God's counsel to the nations without apology.

- State the focus of the sermon: understanding the roles of Watchers and Gatekeepers within the church.

 I. The Role of Watchers

 A. Definition and Purpose

- Watchers are spiritual sentinels who are called to observe and intercede.

- They stand guard over the spiritual landscape, discerning the times and seasons.

 B. Scriptural Basis

Ezekiel 3:17 (NKJV): "Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore hear a word from My mouth, and give them warning from Me."

  - This verse emphasizes the responsibility placed on Watchers to communicate God’s warnings.

 C. Relationship in Intercession

- Distinguish between praying warriors and intercessors.

- Every intercessor is a praying warrior, but not every praying warrior is an intercessor.

  - Intercession requires intimacy and relationship with God and those being prayed for.

 II. The Nature of Gatekeepers

 A. Definition and Purpose

- Gatekeepers are appointed to guard the spiritual gates of the church, ensuring that only what is holy and ordained by God enters.

- They play a crucial role in maintaining spiritual integrity.

 B. Scriptural Basis

Psalm 84:10 (NKJV): "For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness."

  - This highlights the honor and importance of being a gatekeeper in God’s house.

III. The Importance of Intimacy in Intercession

 A. The Example of Mary and Martha

- Discuss the story of Mary and Martha in John 11, focusing on their relationship with Jesus.

John 11:21-22 (NKJV): "Now Martha said to Jesus, 'Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You.'"

  - Martha’s faith is evident, yet they both express their grief.

 B. The Nature of Mourning and Intercession

- Explore how mourning was expressed in biblical times and how it parallels today's culture of hiring intercessors.

- Emphasize that true intercession goes beyond hiring someone to pray; it involves personal relationship and deep empathy.

IV. The Challenge of Effective Prayer

 A. Understanding True Prayer

- Address misconceptions about prayer being loud or charismatic.

Psalm 46:10 (NKJV): "Be still, and know that I am God."

  - Silence and contemplation can be powerful aspects of effective prayer.

 B. The Fruitfulness of Prayer

- Use the analogy of the fig tree (Mark 11:12-14) to illustrate the importance of bearing fruit in our spiritual lives.

Mark 11:13 (NKJV): "And seeing from afar a fig tree having leaves, He went to see if perhaps He would find something on it. When He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs."

  - The tree appeared busy but was unfruitful, warning against the busy yet ineffective practices in church.

 V. The Groaning of the Spirit

 A. The Depth of Intercession

- Discuss the deeper levels of intercession illustrated by Jesus' groaning in John 11:35-38.

John 11:35-38 (NKJV): "Jesus wept. Then the Jews said, 'See how He loved him!' And some of them said, 'Could not this Man, who opened the eyes of the blind, also have kept this man from dying?' Then Jesus, again groaning in Himself, came to the tomb."

 B. The Call to Action

- As intercessors, we must understand the weight of our role and the necessity of genuine relationship with God.

- Encourage the congregation to seek intimacy with God to be effective in their intercession.

 Conclusion

- Reinforce the call to be Watchers and Gatekeepers in today’s world.

- Invite the congregation to commit to a deeper relationship with God and to actively engage in intercession for their communities and nations.
