In Loving Memory of Wingrove Fenton
A Voice of Faith, Community, and Connection
Today, the Virgin Islands pauses to honor the life and legacy of our dear brother, friend, and community pillar, Wingrove “Fenton” Fenton. Our hearts are tender as we reflect on a man whose voice, presence, and character shaped the spiritual and civic landscape of St. Thomas for decades. Wingrove was more than a radio announcer; he was a steady, familiar, comforting voice in our homes, our cars, and our daily routines. He carried the heart of a servant and the soul of a true Virgin Islander.
A Faithful Brother in the House of God
My first connection with Bro. Fenton was at the Apostolic Faith Church, where he was a faithful and regular member. He worshiped with sincerity, served with humility, and carried himself with a quiet dignity that made him beloved by all. Many remember him from his early working years at Island Block in St. Thomas—always dependable, always respectful, always carrying that unmistakable Fenton smile.
The Voice of WGOD & WSTA — A Ministry on the Airwaves
For many years, Wingrove served as one of the recognizable voices of WGOD Radio, working alongside Rev. Reynold Charles, Sis. Veeda Charles, and station manager Charles Sanders. He understood that radio was not just broadcasting—it was ministry.
He filled the airwaves with gospel music, community updates, inspirational messages, and the warmth of a man who genuinely loved people. Whether he was reading poetry from our seniors, announcing community events, or offering words of encouragement, Wingrove made every listener feel valued and connected.
Later, his voice continued to bless the community through WSTA Radio, where he remained a trusted communicator and a familiar presence across the Virgin Islands.
A Community Advocate & A Voice for the People
Wingrove’s influence extended far beyond the studio. He was deeply rooted in the life of St. Thomas:
A community advocate who spoke boldly on local issues
A supporter of civic and cultural events
A familiar voice at public gatherings, invocations, and forums
A man who loved seniors, especially during WGOD’s Thanksgiving and holiday celebrations
A grounded resident who cared deeply about the wellbeing of his island
He was never afraid to speak his mind, never hesitant to stand up for what he believed was right, and always willing to lend his voice to uplift the community.
A Beautiful Love Story — 52 Years of God’s Faithfulness
To God be the glory for the beautiful testimony of love shared between Wingrove and his beloved wife, Sis. Muriel Fenton.
Two sisters—Juel and Muriel—met two brothers in Christ—Winsor and Wingrove.
Friendship blossomed, relationships deepened, and love took root.
On August 18, 1972, one of the first double weddings in the U.S. Virgin Islands took place. Two couples, two families, one unforgettable moment of covenant and celebration.
One year later, they celebrated their first anniversary together.
Twenty‑five years later, they celebrated again—still together.
In August 2023, they rejoiced in their 50th Golden Anniversary—together.
What a testimony of love, endurance, and God’s keeping power.
A Life Well Lived — A Legacy That Will Not Fade
Wingrove Fenton lived with purpose.
He served with joy.
He loved deeply.
He gave generously.
He spoke boldly.
He walked faithfully.
Though his earthly voice is now silent, the echo of his life will continue to resound across the Virgin Islands—in the memories of listeners, in the hearts of friends, in the love of his family, and in the community he served so well.
A Final Word of Comfort
To His wife Sis. Muriel, the children, the extended Fenton family, and all who loved him—
may the God of all comfort surround you with peace that passes understanding. May the memories of this extraordinary man strengthen your hearts in the days ahead.
We, the community of St. Thomas, the church community, the radio family of WGOD and WSTA, the Apostolic Faith Church family, and all who knew him, say:
Thank you, Bro. Fenton.
Thank you for your voice.
Thank you for your service.
Thank you for your love for God and for people.
Rest in peace, beloved brother.
Your voice may be silent, but your legacy will speak for generations.
