Time To Get In Agreement With God

Time To Get In Agreement With God

Introduction:

What It Means to Agree with God

To agree with God means to align our thoughts, beliefs, and actions with His will and purpose. It involves trusting in His plans, acknowledging His sovereignty, and living in obedience to His commands. This agreement requires a daily commitment to seek His guidance and to follow His word, allowing His divine wisdom to shape our lives. As believers, agreeing with God brings us closer to fulfilling our spiritual destiny and experiencing the fullness of His blessings.

"Learning to enter into complete and explicit agreement with God in all things is the most important task the believer faces. Praising God is robbed of meaning if you disagree with Him. True worship only exists where there is harmony between the worshipped and the worshipper. Witness is only Spirit empowered and God glorifying when harmony exists between life and lip. All religious acts are deprived of spiritual significance when unbelief manifests itself in disagreement with God."- Richard Owen Roberts

Scripture Reference:

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." (Jeremiah 29:11, NKJV)

2 Timothy 1:9:

"Who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began."* (NKJV)

Hebrews 13:20-21:

"Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen."* (NKJV)

3. LORD, I Agree with You About the Wickedness of My Sin

Scripture References:

Psalm 51:4:

"Against You, You only, have I sinned, and done this evil in Your sight— that You may be found just when You speak, and blameless when You judge." (NKJV)

Genesis 39:9:

"There is no one greater in this house than I, nor has he kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?"* (NKJV)

4. LORD, I Agree with You Concerning Holiness of Life

Scripture Reference:

1 Peter 1:15-16:

"But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, ‘Be holy, for I am holy.’" (NKJV)

5. LORD, I Agree That Without Holiness No Man Shall See the Lord

"Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord."* (NKJV)

6. LORD, I Agree That Holiness Is Your Will for My Life

Scripture Reference:

1 Thessalonians 4:3:

"For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality." (NKJV)

7. LORD, I Agree to Guard What I Listen To

Scripture References:

Luke 8:18:

"Therefore take heed how you hear. For whoever has, to him more will be given; and whoever does not have, even what he seems to have will be taken from him." (NKJV)

Mark 4:24:

"Then He said to them, 'Take heed what you hear. With the same measure you use, it will be measured to you; and to you who hear, more will be given.'" (NKJV)

8. LORD, I Agree to Place a Guard Over My Entire Body

Scripture References:

Matthew 10:28:

"And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."* (NKJV)

Romans 6:12:

1 Corinthians 6:19:

"Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?" (NKJV)

1 Corinthians 9:27:

"But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified." (NKJV)

9. LORD, I Agree That It Is Impossible to Love Both God and Mammon

Scripture References:

Matthew 6:19-24:

"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness! No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon." (NKJV)

2 Timothy 3:16:

"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." (NKJV)

11. LORD, I Agree to Moral Earnestness and Elimination of Hypocrisy

Scripture References:

John 1:47:

"Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him, and said of him, 'Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!' (NKJV)

Colossians 3:23:

"And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men."* (NKJV)

12. LORD, I Agree to Make Myself Continuously Available to You

Scripture References:

Psalm 1:1-3:

"Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper." (NKJV)

Of course! Here is the continuation of John 15:1-8, 16 in the NKJV:

John 15:1-8:

"I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples."* (NKJV)

John 15:16:

"You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you."* (NKJV)

Conclusion

Agreeing with God means embracing His perspective and aligning our lives with His divine will. It is a commitment to trust His plans, obey His commands, and walk in His ways. By agreeing with God, we open ourselves to His transformative power, allowing His grace to mold us into vessels of honor. This alignment brings us into deeper fellowship with Him, enabling us to bear lasting fruit and fulfill our God-given purpose. As we agree with God, we experience the fullness of His promises and become a testament to His glory and faithfulness.

God's Benefits for His Children

AUDIO TO THIS BLOG BELOW

God's Benefits for His Children

Do you know that God has benefits for His children?

He does, and these benefits truly improve our condition. Psalm 68:19 says, "Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits..."

Two of these benefits are listed in Psalm 103:2-3: "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases." If you're a child of God, one of the benefits of that relationship is healing for your physical body.

Forgiveness and Healing: A Divine Pair

Psalm 103:3 reveals how forgiveness and healing go hand in hand: "Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases." These benefits should not be separated. In the New Testament, the Greek word **σῴζω (sōzō) is translated to save and heal. For example:

Mark 5:23: Jairus asked Jesus to lay hands on his sick daughter that she might be healed.

Acts 2:47: It is recorded that the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved (sōzō).

Since we know it is God's will to forgive sins and save, we must also accept that it is His will to physically heal and make whole.

Old Testament Examples of Healing

Passover Lamb and Healing (Exodus 12):

Do you remember the account of the Passover Lamb? The entire household ate of the lamb, and the blood on the doorpost saved them from the destroyer. After eating the lamb, the Bible says they left Egypt in great physical strength and good health.

Psalm 105:37: "He also brought them out with silver and gold, and there was none feeble among His tribes."

Exodus 23:25: "So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you."

When you are full of the Lamb, you receive strength and health. As Joel 3:10 says, "Let the weak say, 'I am strong.'" David in Psalm 29:11 adds, "The Lord will give strength to His people; the Lord will bless His people with peace." This should be your daily confession.

Healing in the Time of Hezekiah

Renewing the Passover (2 Chronicles 30):

King Hezekiah renewed the Passover, and when the Israelites celebrated it, the King prayed for the sick, and the Lord healed the people.

2 Chronicles 30:20: "And the Lord listened to Hezekiah and healed the people."

Once again, the Passover Lamb is connected with healing. The Lamb of God brings forgiveness and healing. Nations connected to the Lamb, eating of His word, can also receive healing through the prophetic prayers of God’s servants.

Thoughts on Healing by the Late T.L. Osborn

Sickness is no more natural than sin. God made all things very good, and we should not look for the remedy for sin or sickness in the natural, but from God who created us happy, strong, healthy, and to fellowship with Him.

Genesis 1:31: "Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good."

1 John 3:8: "The Son of God was manifested that He might destroy the works of the devil."

Sin and sickness entered the world through the fall, and we must look to the Savior for the healing of both. The removal of our diseases is included in Christ's redemptive work, along with the removal of our sins. Christ fulfilled Isaiah's words:

Matthew 8:17: "He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses."

Christ treated sin, diseases, and the devil's works as one; He rebuked them all. He does not want the works of the devil to continue in our physical bodies.

1 Corinthians 6:15: "Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ?"

Prayer for Healing

Let us end with a prayer for healing by Evangelist Oral Roberts:

Heavenly Father, I come to You in the Name of Jesus, asking for Your divine healing touch. I believe that You are the God who heals and that by Jesus' stripes, we are healed. I lift up my body and the bodies of those around me, asking for Your strength and wholeness. Fill us with Your presence, remove every ailment, and restore us to perfect health. Amen.

  "The Gentiles Are Included, Too."

"For from the rising of the sun, even to its going down,

My name shall be great among the Gentiles;
In every place incense shall be offered to My name,
And a pure offering;
For My name shall be great among the nations,”
Says the Lord of hosts." Malachi 1:11

New Testament Examples of Jesus Ministering to Gentiles:

1. The Woman at the Well (John 4:7-26):

Jesus encountered a Samaritan woman at Jacob's well. Despite cultural norms that prohibited Jews from associating with Samaritans, Jesus engaged her in conversation. He spoke of "living water" that leads to eternal life and revealed his identity as the Messiah. This act of compassion and inclusion highlighted that salvation is for all, regardless of ethnic background.

2. The Syrophoenician Woman (Mark 7:24-30; Matthew 15:21-28):

A Syrophoenician (Canaanite) woman approached Jesus, pleading for her demon-possessed daughter to be healed. Initially, Jesus referenced the cultural priority of His ministry to the Israelites, comparing it to giving children's bread to dogs.

Yet, her faith and persistence moved Jesus to commend her and heal her daughter, demonstrating that faith, not ethnicity, determines inclusion in God's kingdom.

Scripture Showing Gentiles Grafted into the Kingdom:

1. Romans 11:17-24: Paul explains that Gentiles are like wild olive branches grafted into the cultivated olive tree of Israel. This imagery signifies that Gentiles, through faith, share in the blessings and promises given to Israel.

2. Ephesians 2:11-22: Paul writes that Jesus has broken down the dividing wall of hostility, making Gentiles fellow citizens with the saints and members of God's household.

3. Galatians 3:28-29: Paul emphasizes that in Christ, there is neither Jew nor Gentile, and all who belong to Christ are Abraham's seed and heirs according to the promise.

Instances of Disobedience in Zechariah:

1. Zechariah 1:4: The people are reminded of their ancestors' refusal to listen to the former prophets.

2. Zechariah 7:11-12: The Israelites are described as refusing to heed God's words, turning a stubborn shoulder, and stopping their ears from hearing.

3. Zechariah 8:17: The people are admonished not to devise evil in their hearts or love false oaths, indicating past disobedience.

Instances of Disobedience in Malachi BY THE HEBREW CHILDREN:

1. Malachi 1:6-8: Priests are rebuked for offering polluted offerings on God's altar.

2. Malachi 2:8-9: Priests are criticized for causing many to stumble by their instructions and corrupting the covenant.

3. Malachi 2:11: Judah is condemned for marrying the daughter of a foreign god.

4. Malachi 3:8-9: The Israelites are accused of robbing God in tithes and offerings.

After the Israelites dissobedience in Zechariah and Malachi God intruduced that He is "great among the Gentiles." God's perspective shiffted from the Hebrew Children to the Gentiles.

Conclusion:

Malachi 1:11 declares, "For from the rising of the sun, even to its going down, My name shall be great among the Gentiles." This prophetic declaration signifies a shift where God's grace extends beyond Israel to include all nations. The inclusion of the Gentiles in God's plan is a testament to His boundless love and mercy.

As incense and pure offerings symbolize worship and dedication, so too does this verse invite all people to honor God's great name.

Indeed, His name is exalted among the Gentiles, fulfilling His promise of a global kingdom.

Commentaries on Malachi 1:11:

Dr. J. Vernon McGee: Emphasizes that Malachi speaks of a future time when God's name will be universally honored and revered.

John MacArthur: Notes that the global worship of God in this verse reflects the ultimate fulfillment of God's plan for salvation to reach the ends of the earth.

Dr. Scofield: Highlights the prophetic nature of this passage, pointing to the Messianic kingdom where all nations will worship the Lord.

Matthew Henry: Observes that this verse underscores the universality of God's kingdom, where Gentiles will also offer pure worship.

Warren W. Wiersbe: Interprets this verse as a promise that God's name will be magnified among all peoples, signifying a future time of true worship.

Understanding Spiritual Ministry

AUDIO OF THIS BLOG BELOW

Understanding Spiritual Ministry

 By David and Warren Wiersbe

 1. The Foundation of Ministry is Character

1 Timothy 3:2:

"Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach."

a.Ministry starts with personal integrity and moral character.

 2. The Nature of Ministry is Service

Mark 10:45:

"For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

a.True ministry is about serving others, not being served.

 3. The Motive of Ministry is Love

2 Corinthians 5:14:

"For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died."

a.Love for Christ and others should drive our ministry efforts.

1 Thessalonians 2:7-8:

"Instead, we were like young children among you. Just as a nursing mother cares for her children, so we cared for you. Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well."*

a.Ministry is an outpouring of genuine love and care for others.

 4. The Measure of Ministry is Sacrifice

Mark 10:45b:

"...to give his life as a ransom for many."

a.The effectiveness of ministry is measured by our willingness to sacrifice.

5. Authority of Ministry is Submission

2 Corinthians 10:5-6:

"We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete."*

a.True authority in ministry comes from submitting to God's will and His Word.

 6. The Purpose of Ministry is the Glory of God

1 Corinthians 10:31:

"So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."

a.Ministry should always aim to honor and glorify God.

 7. The Tools of Ministry are the Word of God and Prayer

Acts 6:4:

"But we will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word."

a.Prayer and scripture are essential tools for effective ministry.

 8. The Privilege of Ministry is Growth

Ephesians 4:11-16:

"So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work."*

a.Ministry enables growth, both personal and communal, within the body of Christ.

 9. The Power of Ministry is the Holy Spirit

Acts 1:8:

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

a.The Holy Spirit empowers and guides our ministry efforts.

 10. The Model of Ministry is Jesus Christ

Hebrews 12:2:

"Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."

a.Jesus Christ is the ultimate example of how ministry should be conducted.

QUESTION AND ANSWER PROPHET

 Who Was Malachi the Prophet?

Malachi was a prophet who ministered to the people of Israel after their return from the Babylonian exile, during the period of Nehemiah's reforms. His name means "my messenger," and his writings reflect the concerns of post-exilic Israel. He addressed the spiritual apathy and moral laxity of the people, calling them back to faithfulness and proper worship of God.

To Whom Was He Writing and Prophesying?

Malachi was writing to the Israelites who had returned to Jerusalem and were rebuilding their lives and their worship practices. His prophecies were directed towards the priests and the people, highlighting their failures and urging them to restore their covenant relationship with God.

 Malachi's Questions and Answers

Malachi employs a series of questions posed by God and responses from the people, followed by God's correction. Let's examine these scriptures and the commentaries from Dr. Scofield, Dr. McGee, and John MacArthur.

 1. Malachi 1:6

Scripture:

"A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If then I am a father, where is My honor? And if I am a Master, where is My reverence? Says the Lord of hosts to you priests who despise My name. Yet you say, 'In what way have we despised Your name?'"

Commentary:

Dr. Scofield: Scofield notes that this verse underscores the hypocrisy of the priests who failed to honor God despite their religious positions.

Dr. McGee: McGee emphasizes the relational aspect of honor, pointing out that the priests' failure to honor God as Father and Master reflects a deep spiritual disconnect.

John MacArthur: MacArthur highlights the serious accusation against the priests, noting that their contempt for God's name is evident in their actions and attitudes.

 2. Malachi 1:8

Scripture:

"And when you offer the blind as a sacrifice, is it not evil? And when you offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? Offer it then to your governor! Would he be pleased with you? Would he accept you favorably? Says the Lord of hosts."

Commentary:

Dr. Scofield: Scofield points out the stark contrast between the offerings given to God and those that would be deemed unacceptable by human authorities.

Dr. McGee: McGee comments on the disrespect shown to God by offering inferior sacrifices, likening it to a lack of reverence and devotion.

John MacArthur: MacArthur discusses the Levitical laws regarding proper sacrifices, noting that the priests' neglect of these laws reflects their disregard for God's holiness.

 3. Malachi 1:13

Scripture:

"You also say, 'Oh, what a weariness!' And you sneer at it, says the Lord of hosts. And you bring the stolen, the lame, and the sick; thus you bring an offering! Should I accept this from your hand? Says the Lord."

Commentary:

Dr. Scofield: Scofield highlights the priests' attitude of weariness towards their duties, indicating a loss of devotion and reverence.

Dr. McGee: McGee stresses the ingratitude and lack of enthusiasm in worship, noting how it dishonors God.

John MacArthur: MacArthur emphasizes that the priests' actions reveal a heart that is far from God, as they prioritize convenience over proper worship.

 4. Malachi 3:7

Scripture:

"Yet from the days of your fathers you have gone away from My ordinances and have not kept them. Return to Me, and I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts. But you said, 'In what way shall we return?'"

Commentary:

Dr. Scofield: Scofield comments on the historical pattern of disobedience and calls for repentance.

Dr. McGee: McGee points out the need for genuine repentance and a return to God's ways.

John MacArthur: MacArthur emphasizes the covenant relationship between God and His people, noting the call to return to covenant faithfulness.

 5. Malachi 3:8

Scripture:

"Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, 'In what way have we robbed You?' In tithes and offerings."

Commentary:

Dr. Scofield: Scofield discusses the importance of tithes and offerings as an expression of worship and obedience.

Dr. McGee: McGee explains that withholding tithes is an act of dishonoring God and reflects a heart that is not fully devoted.

John MacArthur: MacArthur focuses on the principle of stewardship and the responsibility to honor God with our resources.

 6. Malachi 3:14

Scripture:

*"You have said, 'It is useless to serve God; what profit is it that we have kept His ordinance, and that we have walked as mourners before the Lord of hosts?'"

Commentary:

Dr. Scofield: Scofield notes the people's cynical attitude towards serving God, highlighting their lack of faith.

Dr. McGee: McGee points out that this attitude reflects a misunderstanding of the nature of true service to God.

John MacArthur: MacArthur emphasizes that true service to God is not about immediate rewards but about faithfulness and obedience.

 Conclusion

Malachi's questions and answers serve as a poignant reminder of God's omniscience and His desire for genuine relationship with His people. By asking questions, God invites His people to self-examine and reflect on their actions and attitudes. This approach reveals the depth of God's patience and His willingness to engage with His people, even when they falter.

The divinity of God is evident in His omniscienceHe knows the answers even before asking the questions. Yet, He engages His people in dialogue to help them recognize their shortcomings and return to Him. This relational dynamic highlights God's grace, love, and desire for His people's faithfulness.
