TO THE FAMILY OF PASTOR DAMOS S. ELOI
A Life Well Lived
Deeper Life Christian Ministries heartfelt condolence is extended to the family of our dear departed beloved Pastor Damos S. Eloi. May you be encouraged by Revelation 14:13 … “Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors, and their works do follow them.” It’s joyful to know his work wasn’t in vain.
I heard about Pastor Eloi in the early nineteen eighties. But I first met him in 1983 when my friend unknown to me paid him the first week of driving school. Then let me know he will call me to make arrangements.
On my first day of driving school, I was a bit nervous. I sat behind the steering wheel not expecting to hear “Let’s go.” Pastor Eloi assured me I could drive and everything would be all right. From that day I looked forward to my lessons.
Needless to say, we developed a platonic relationship. What we had in common was the love of the Lord Jesus Christ. Our conversations were based on that line. He had a great sense of humor. Oh, how we laughed at times. Proverbs 17:22 is true: “A merry heart does a spirit, soul, and body good like medicine.” Oh, what a joy to relate to the spiritual, emotional, and physical benefits of joy and laughter.
Thankfully, Pastor Eloi’s encouragement and patience hastened my driving skills. After a few months, with immense joy, I officially joined his numerous students with their driver’s licenses. Mindfully, I am told by many, especially my visitors who came to the island and drove up the hills, "You are a very good driver.” All credit goes to Pastor Eloi.
Words are limited to evaluate Pastor Eloi. What tremendous characteristics he had! A man of integrity and dignity with a unique smile.
He was an epitome of humanity, a great lover of all, and made others know their value. His greetings were always friendly with an infectious smile. Everyone was precious to him. He was a Pastor whose life we can emulate. He referred to all Pastors and their church members as family; and indeed, we all are family: The family of God.
We will certainly miss him at fellowship gatherings whether it's conventions, conferences, church anniversaries, and more. But as Christians, we have that blessed hope of seeing him in the rapture when we will be reunited.
Pastor Eloi loved his family. He referred to his wife as his Queen. His daughter and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He always boasted about their achievements and all he wanted them to do was serve Jesus. I recalled him telling me when one of his grandsons graduated from high school, his gift to him would be a brand-new car. That spoke of his love and generosity to his Family. His liberality also assisted other families. He gave as unto the Lord.
Significantly, Pastor Eloi like the Apostle Paul had fought the good fight and finished the course in order to prepare for the Rapture. How about you: families and friends? Importantly, if you haven’t accepted Christ as your personal Savior, you won’t be in the Rapture. It’s not too late to prepare for the Rapture.
Pastor Eloi’s choice of being a Christian has placed him on the right hand of Jesus. Matt. 25:34 expresses, “Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:” His long-awaited hope has finally been realized.
His soul now rests in eternal peace.
