Bringing the Supernatural Back into the Church

Introduction

We need to bring the supernatural back to the church. Jesus walked in Bible times in supernatural activation and authority.

Scripture Example

Jesus opened the eyes of the blind (John 9:1-12).

A Man Born Blind Receives Sight

Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”

Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him. I[a] must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

When He had said these things, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent). So he went and washed, and came back seeing.

How to Bring the Supernatural Authority of God Back into the Church:

1. Prayer and Fasting: Seek God's guidance and power through devoted prayer and fasting.

2. Teaching and Training: Educate the church members about supernatural gifts and how to use them.

3. Invite Anointed Ministers: Bring in those who are flowing in the supernatural to transfer their knowledge through teachings and instructions.

4. Create a Faith-Filled Environment: Encourage testimonies and faith-building activities that foster an atmosphere for the supernatural.

Supernatural Gifts are Given to God's People:

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 (God is the one who gives supernatural gifts to his believers).

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by [a]the same Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.

Learning from Others:

One can study others through books and get a transference from their methods while operating in the supernatural.

Biblical Example:

Elijah and Elisha (2 Kings 2:9-10). Elisha received a double portion of Elijah's spirit through mentoring.

And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?”

Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.”

10 So he said, “You have asked a hard thing. Nevertheless, if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you; but if not, it shall not be so.

Seek the God of the Supernatural Gifts:

One can seek God for instructions and downloads on how to operate in the gifts.

Example from Moses:

Moses flowed in the supernatural gift in Egypt. His staff turned into a snake and then back into a staff (Exodus 7:10-12).

10 So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and they did so, just as the Lord commanded. And Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent.

11 But Pharaoh also called the wise men and the [a]sorcerers; so the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their [b]enchantments. 12 For every man threw down his rod, and they became serpents. But Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.

Five Bible Characters who Flowed in the Supernatural:

1. Elijah: Performed miracles like calling down fire from heaven (1 Kings 18:36-38).

36 And it came to pass, at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, “Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word. 37 Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that You are the Lord God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again.”

38 Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench.

Explanation: Demonstrated God's power and authority over false prophets.

2. Elisha: Raised the Shunammite woman's son from the dead (2 Kings 4:32-37).

32 When Elisha came into the house, there was the child, lying dead on his bed. 33 He went in therefore, shut the door behind the two of them, and prayed to the Lord34 And he went up and lay on the child, and put his mouth on his mouth, his eyes on his eyes, and his hands on his hands; and he stretched himself out on the child, and the flesh of the child became warm. 35 He returned and walked back and forth in the house, and again went up and stretched himself out on him; then the child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes. 36 And he called Gehazi and said, “Call this Shunammite woman.” So he called her. And when she came in to him, he said, “Pick up your son.” 37 So she went in, fell at his feet, and bowed to the ground; then she picked up her son and went out.

Explanation: Showed God's compassion and life-giving power.

3. Peter: Healed a lame man at the temple gate (Acts 3:1-10).

Explanation: Proclaimed the healing power in Jesus' name.

4. Paul: Raised Eutychus from the dead after he fell from a window (Acts 20:9-12).

And in a window sat a certain young man named Eutychus, who was sinking into a deep sleep. He was overcome by sleep; and as Paul continued speaking, he fell down from the third story and was taken up dead. 10 But Paul went down, fell on him, and embracing him said, “Do not trouble yourselves, for his life is in him.” 11 Now when he had come up, had broken bread and eaten, and talked a long while, even till daybreak, he departed. 12 And they brought the young man in alive, and they were not a little comforted.

Explanation: God's power to bring life even in tragic circumstances.

5. Philip: Performed miracles, casting out unclean spirits and healing paralytics (Acts 8:6-7).

And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed; and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed.

Explanation: Demonstrated God's authority over physical and spiritual ailments.
