God's Benefits for His Children

God's Benefits for His Children

Do you know that God has benefits for His children?

He does, and these benefits truly improve our condition. Psalm 68:19 says, "Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits..."

Two of these benefits are listed in Psalm 103:2-3: "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases." If you're a child of God, one of the benefits of that relationship is healing for your physical body.

Forgiveness and Healing: A Divine Pair

Psalm 103:3 reveals how forgiveness and healing go hand in hand: "Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases." These benefits should not be separated. In the New Testament, the Greek word **σῴζω (sōzō) is translated to save and heal. For example:

Mark 5:23: Jairus asked Jesus to lay hands on his sick daughter that she might be healed.

Acts 2:47: It is recorded that the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved (sōzō).

Since we know it is God's will to forgive sins and save, we must also accept that it is His will to physically heal and make whole.

Old Testament Examples of Healing

Passover Lamb and Healing (Exodus 12):

Do you remember the account of the Passover Lamb? The entire household ate of the lamb, and the blood on the doorpost saved them from the destroyer. After eating the lamb, the Bible says they left Egypt in great physical strength and good health.

Psalm 105:37: "He also brought them out with silver and gold, and there was none feeble among His tribes."

Exodus 23:25: "So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you."

When you are full of the Lamb, you receive strength and health. As Joel 3:10 says, "Let the weak say, 'I am strong.'" David in Psalm 29:11 adds, "The Lord will give strength to His people; the Lord will bless His people with peace." This should be your daily confession.

Healing in the Time of Hezekiah

Renewing the Passover (2 Chronicles 30):

King Hezekiah renewed the Passover, and when the Israelites celebrated it, the King prayed for the sick, and the Lord healed the people.

2 Chronicles 30:20: "And the Lord listened to Hezekiah and healed the people."

Once again, the Passover Lamb is connected with healing. The Lamb of God brings forgiveness and healing. Nations connected to the Lamb, eating of His word, can also receive healing through the prophetic prayers of God’s servants.

Thoughts on Healing by the Late T.L. Osborn

Sickness is no more natural than sin. God made all things very good, and we should not look for the remedy for sin or sickness in the natural, but from God who created us happy, strong, healthy, and to fellowship with Him.

Genesis 1:31: "Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good."

1 John 3:8: "The Son of God was manifested that He might destroy the works of the devil."

Sin and sickness entered the world through the fall, and we must look to the Savior for the healing of both. The removal of our diseases is included in Christ's redemptive work, along with the removal of our sins. Christ fulfilled Isaiah's words:

Matthew 8:17: "He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses."

Christ treated sin, diseases, and the devil's works as one; He rebuked them all. He does not want the works of the devil to continue in our physical bodies.

1 Corinthians 6:15: "Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ?"

Prayer for Healing

Let us end with a prayer for healing by Evangelist Oral Roberts:

Heavenly Father, I come to You in the Name of Jesus, asking for Your divine healing touch. I believe that You are the God who heals and that by Jesus' stripes, we are healed. I lift up my body and the bodies of those around me, asking for Your strength and wholeness. Fill us with Your presence, remove every ailment, and restore us to perfect health. Amen.
