Activate your Faith as a Believer

Audio to this Blog @ https://youtu.be/h6yf9oEbfCc

Thank you for reading this blog post on how to activate your faith as a believer. Faith is a vital component of our relationship with God, and it is essential that we understand what it is and how to exercise it. In this post, I will share with you some scriptures that define faith, demonstrate its importance, and inspire us to live by it.

Faith Defined

A. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title-deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality-faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses” (Hebrews 11:1 AMP).

  • Faith is giving substance to the thing we hope for. It is making our hope tangible and concrete by trusting in God’s word and promises.
  • Faith grows out of the word of God. Faith always comes on the heels of the word. As we hear, read, study, and meditate on God’s word, our faith is increased and strengthened.
  • Faith is the title deed for the things we hope to possess. It is the legal document that proves our ownership of what God has promised us. It gives us the right to claim and enjoy our inheritance in Christ.
  • Faith gives us confidence and certainty in the promises of God, enabling us to trust Him in challenging times
  • `1. It helps us to overcome fear, doubt, and unbelief, and to rely on God’s power and faithfulness.
  • Faith provides a tangible connection to the unseen realm, giving us the conviction to believe in the promises of God
  • 2. It enables us to see beyond the natural circumstances and to perceive the spiritual realities that are at work in our lives.

B. God demands that we have faith (Hebrews 11:6).

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

  • Faith is essential for pleasing God. Without faith, we cannot approach Him or receive anything from Him. He expects us to believe in His existence, His character, and His rewards.
  • Faith is necessary for seeking God. Without faith, we cannot draw near to Him or know Him intimately. He desires us to seek Him with all our hearts, and He promises to reward us with His presence, His grace, and His blessings.

We live by faith

The Bible tells us that as believers, we are called to live by faith in every aspect of our lives. Here are some scriptures that illustrate this truth:

  • The righteous live by faith (Habakkuk 2:4). This verse is quoted three times in the New Testament (Romans 1:17; Galatians 3:11; Hebrews 10:38), showing its importance and relevance for us today. It means that our righteousness before God is not based on our works or performance, but on our faith in Christ and His finished work on the cross. It also means that our daily conduct and character should reflect our trust in God and His word.
  • Faith in God is the greatest strength (Zechariah 12:5). This verse speaks of a time when God will defend Jerusalem from its enemies and deliver His people from their distress. It shows that faith in God is more powerful than any human or natural force, and that it gives us courage and confidence to face any challenge or opposition.

  • Faith and works are twins (1 Chronicles 19:13). This verse records the words of Joab, one of David’s generals, who encouraged his men to fight bravely against the Ammonites and Syrians who had attacked them. He urged them to be strong and valiant for their people and their God, and to trust in God’s will and sovereignty. He demonstrated that faith and works go hand in hand, and that we should not only believe in God but also act on His behalf.
  • Unwavering faith (Job 1:22; Job 2:10; Job 13:15). These verses show the remarkable faith of Job, who suffered tremendous losses and afflictions at the hands of Satan. Despite losing his children, his possessions, his health, and his reputation, he did not sin or blame God for his troubles. Instead, he maintained his integrity and his hope in God. He declared that even if God would slay him, he would still trust Him and defend his ways before Him.
  • Sure faith (Psalm 27:1). This psalm expresses David’s confidence and joy in the Lord as his light, his salvation, his stronghold, his refuge, his helper, his protector, his teacher, his leader, his deliverer, his lifter up, his strengthener, and his beautifier. He affirmed that he had nothing to fear or be ashamed of because of his faith in God. He also expressed his desire and determination to seek God’s face and dwell in His presence all the days of his life.

Conclusion

Faith is a vital component of our relationship with God, and it is essential that we understand what it is and how to exercise it. Here are some reasons why faith is important for us as believers:

  • Faith connects us to God and His grace. It is through faith that we receive salvation, forgiveness, justification, sanctification, adoption, and every spiritual blessing in Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 5:1-2; 1 Corinthians 6:11; Galatians 3:26; Ephesians 1:3).
  • Faith enables us to overcome the world and its temptations. It is through faith that we resist the devil, the flesh, and the world, and that we walk in victory and freedom (1 John 5:4-5; James 4:7; Galatians 5:16-25; Romans 8:37).
  • Faith empowers us to do God’s will and fulfill His purpose. It is through faith that we obey God, serve Him, please Him, glorify Him, and bear fruit for Him (Hebrews 11:8-40; Matthew 25:21; Hebrews 11:6; 1 Corinthians 10:31; John 15:8).
  • Faith equips us to endure trials and tribulations. It is through faith that we have peace, joy, hope, patience, perseverance, and comfort in the midst of suffering and hardship (John 16:33; Romans 15:13; Romans 5:3-5; James 1:2-4; 2 Corinthians 1:3-7).

I hope this blog post has encouraged you to activate your faith as a believer. Remember that faith is a gift from God, and that He wants us to grow in it and use it for His glory. May the Lord increase your faith and bless you abundantly as you trust in Him. Amen.
