Introduction: As ambassadors of the kingdom of God, we are tasked with a divine mission to represent God here on earth. This sacred duty requires us to draw inspiration from the Scriptures, especially the words of the Apostle Paul, who called himself an ambassador of God. Let's explore what it means to be an ambassador of the kingdom of God through key subheadings supported by relevant Scripture and insights.

In the Bible dictionary, an ambassador of Christ is defined as a representative of Christ's teachings and values, sent to proclaim His message of salvation, grace, and reconciliation to the world. We, as ambassadors of the kingdom of God, bear this honorable title and the divine responsibility it entails. Let us continue to fulfill this role with unwavering dedication, knowing that we have the power to change lives and bring people into the Kingdom of God.

  1. 1.Representing God on Earth

    • Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:20 (NIV) "We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God."

    • Explanation: As ambassadors, we represent God's character, values, and message to the world. We serve as God's messengers, calling people to be reconciled with Him. Our lives should reflect the love, grace, and righteousness of the kingdom of God.

  2. 2.Representing Kingdom Affairs

    • Scripture: Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV) "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you."

    • Explanation: Just as an earthly ambassador represents their country's interests, we are entrusted with the responsibility to share the gospel, make disciples, and teach others to follow Christ's teachings. We bring the affairs of the kingdom of God to the world.

  1. 3.Obeying God's Laws and Influencing Others

    • Scripture: Romans 13:1 (NIV) "Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established."

    • Explanation: Ambassadors not only obey the laws of their own country but also seek to influence other nations. Similarly, as ambassadors of the kingdom of God, we obey God's laws and strive to influence others by living a righteous life, promoting justice, and demonstrating God's love.

  2. 4.Speaking the Language of the Kingdom

    • Scripture: Colossians 4:6 (NIV) "Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone."

    • Explanation: To effectively communicate God's message, we must speak with grace and wisdom. Just as an earthly ambassador learns the language of the host country, we should communicate in a way that resonates with people, drawing them closer to the kingdom of God.

  3. 5.Studying and Showing Ourselves Approved

    • Scripture: 2 Timothy 2:15 (NIV) "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth."

    • Explanation: Ambassadors invest time in understanding their country's policies and culture.

    • Likewise, we should diligently study God's Word to correctly handle the truth and be equipped to represent the kingdom of God effectively.

Conclusion: As we reflect on the life of an ambassador of the kingdom of God, we see a call to influence nations, drawing them closer to God's reign. A popular commentary on this role states that ambassadors of the kingdom empower and encourage others to join in, spreading the love and salvation of Christ. As ambassadors, we possess the power to influence nations not through force, but through the transformative message of the Gospel.
