The Christian Armor and Spiritual Warfare

Introduction: Preparing for Battle

  • The Christian's Calling: Equipped for Spiritual Warfare

Bible Dictionary Definition: Spiritual Warfare

Spiritual Warfare: According to Christian Bible dictionaries, "spiritual warfare" refers to the ongoing struggle and conflict between the forces of good, led by God and His angels, and the forces of evil, led by Satan and his demonic entities, for the souls and spiritual well-being of individuals and the advancement of God's kingdom on Earth. It involves the use of prayer, Scripture, faith, and the armor of God to resist and overcome the spiritual forces of darkness.

Ephesians 6:10-12 (NIV):

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. • Romans 12:2 (NIV)"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."

Galatians 5:16 (NIV)"So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh."

James 4:7 (NIV)"Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

Ephesians 6:14-17 (NIV)"Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
